Cool off with your electric cooperative.
Open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., the air-conditioned Missouri Electric Cooperatives building is located across from the grandstand. Co-op employees will be on hand to answer questions, and you can peruse an array of displays. While in the building be sure to:
- Toss your hat in for a $500 scholarship. Students can swing by to fill out an application for one of four $500 scholarships. Applicants must have a permanent Missouri address, be in good standing with their electric co-op and be accepted as a student at a college, university and/or vocational school program for the upcoming semester.
- Race your friends and family on our all-electric Missouri Electric Cooperatives speedway (pictured right).
- Snap a commemorative photo at one of our many photo stations, including a giant Rural Missouri cover and a bucket truck display.
- Meet the famous Buddy Bear. He’ll be there every day at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. for photos and hugs.
- Turn to the last page of this magazine for our coloring contest details. Ten lucky kids will win fun prizes.
Snag a free LED night-light and learn how to stay safe around electric lines.
Friday, Aug. 16, is Missouri Electric Cooperatives Day. The first 1,500 visitors to the Missouri Electric Cooperatives building will receive a free LED night-light. Also, plan to sit in on a live-line demonstration, which includes basic safety tips, information on how electricity is distributed, equipment used to deliver electricity and much more. Demonstrations will happen at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
